Ndou dishes out a lesson

LOVEMORE "Black Panther" Ndou delivered on the threat he made last week, that he would cause grievous bodily harm to Gary "Superman" St Clair at the weekend after the Australia-based boxer had promised to knock the hell out of the exiled South African.

Ndou, who also lives in Australia, taught Guyana-born St Clair a boxing lesson in their 12-rounder, eventually winning both the World Boxing Foundation and the International Boxing Federation Pan Pacific welterweight belts.

The three judges scored the fight 116-112 (twice) and 117-112.

The fight between the two former world champions took place at the Southport RSL Club in Queensland, Australia.

"Word was StClair wanted to KO me. Many have said that before and failed, and the only thing I could say was good luck to him," said the free-talking Ndou, who was born in Musina 41 years ago.

"StClair said he had been training for five months for the fight. Well, somebody needed to tell him that I have been training for the past 40 years."

The boxer-turned-lawyer said he had to learn to fight to survive from the time he was a year old.

"I had to fight to be recognised as equal in my own country of birth. That is why I always say forget about the university degrees I hold.

"Fighting is what I do best. It's in my blood. It was instilled in me from childhood."

Ndou said people were dismayed that he was still boxing when he could do something else with his life.
