Heroic times for Bafana

THEY went, they saw and they came close to conquering the once mighty Egypt

That much sums up Bafana Bafana's impressive performance during Sunday night's 0-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Pharaohs - the seven-time continental champions - in Cairo. It could have been worse for Egypt had Katlego Mphela and Tlou Segolela been more lethal in front of goals.

Under coach Pitso Mosimane, the team is starting to bear resemblance to the Class of 1996. They seem to be enjoying their game as evidenced by their good defensive record of not having conceded even a single goal in the qualifiers so far.

And just like their heroes in 1996 under local coach Clive Barker, this bunch, under captain Mosimane, look capable of doing the country proud at the Afcon finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. It won't be easy, but we believe in you boys!
