Three‚ including two children‚ killed in head-on collision

Three people‚ including two children‚ were killed in a head-on collision between a bakkie and a light motor vehicle on the R114 in Diepsloot north west of Johannesburg on Saturday night‚ paramedics said.

Eight people were injured in the accident‚ ER24 said.

“It is believed that the two vehicles collided head-on with each other which led to some of the occupants being ejected from the vehicles. When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found the mangled vehicles on both sides of the road. Many bystanders surrounded the scene.

“Upon closer inspection it was found that one adult man believed to be in his late twenties and two children under the age of seven had unfortunately sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing that could be done for the patients and they were declared dead at the scene‚” ER24 said.

Eight other people‚ including three children under the age of twelve‚ sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate‚ it said.

“ER24 paramedics treated and transported two patients to Thembisa Provincial Hospital for further treatment. The remaining patients were treated and transported by other medical services on scene‚” it added.
