Police search for abducted PE baby

Police in the Eastern Cape are searching for a woman who allegedly abducted a five-month-old baby girl from a home in Kuyga‚ Port Elizabeth.

According to police‚ the mother of the baby met the woman two weeks ago and gave her a place to sleep for the night after hearing that she had nowhere to sleep.

The next morning‚ the suspect took the baby and her seven-year-old brother to the shop.

The boy returned alone and the suspect and the baby has not been seen since.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the women had gone by the name Asanda but that this is not necessarily her real name.
