Eskom: Load shedding prognosis high

Eskom didn’t mess around on Friday morning.

Missing from its social media feed was the almost standard “there is a low probability of load shedding this morning and high probability in the evening” outlook Twitter users are used to.

@Eskom–SA on Friday tweeted bluntly: “The load shedding prognosis today is high”.

This came as temperatures dropped around the country and rain fell in many parts.

That excuse wouldn’t sit well with @Timidbear: “@Eskom–SA typical. You could have prepared for it but you don’t know how to as we have had warnings about the weather”‚ while @MblueSA took issue with the lack of detail: “@Eskom–SA Good Morning.Where? When? How long? #EskomFail”.

@tdollar15 took a stab at possible excuses the utility could use for likely outages on Friday: “@Eskom–SA Let me guess‚ Coal is wet? the price of diesel went up? What? Why? Who the hell does maintenance in winter anyways?FFS #Clueless”.

Twitter user ?@Jayzee2d‚ a regular critic of Eskom‚ greeted the power company’s departure from its usual update outlook thus: “@Eskom–SA I see the ‘prognosis’ man is back on duty. The ‘possibility’ man is (on) leave”.
