Eskom boasts of 3 load shedding-free days

Eskom on Tuesday crowed about going for three days with resorting to power outages.

The utility‚ however‚ was guarded about making it to four.

The “probability of #load–shedding is low for this morning‚” ?@Eskom–SA tweeted‚ but “high for this evening”.

“DYK @Eskom–SA has not #load–shedding for 3 consecutive days‚” it added.

Eskom started the week on a good note on Monday‚ saying the “power system is currently stable”‚ and the power utility would be to able “to perform maintenance without load shedding”.

The system was‚ however‚ expected to “to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm–9pm) mainly as a result of increased electricity demand”.

This was because of the “cold weather conditions across the country”.

Temperatures in South Africa are predicted to persist at current levels and then dip as the weekend approaches.

“Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms‚” the utility said.

Twitter reaction to Eskom’s boast on Tuesday was swift‚ but mostly unprintable because posts were expletive-laden.

?@nsmitza‚ however‚ was measured in his response: “@Eskom–SA DYK that there should be no loadshedding at all...ever! Nevermind 3 days...lets try 30 days!”

Last Thursday saw a nine-day reprieve from enforced power outages come to an end.
