16-year-old boy decapitated while on school trip  

A 16 year old pupil from Lesotho has died in Durban while on a school trip earlier on Thursday.

He was decapitated when he allegedly stuck his head out of a window and struck a pole. This happened in full view of fellow pupils.

“The boy was part of a group that (has) been traveling on a bus along the narrow Dick King Street in Durban. Reports are that he had his head out the window when the bus passed a pole on the side of the road. The pole reportedly struck the boy,” explained KZN EMS Spokesperson Robert Mckenzie the Berea Mail reported.

KZN emergency services and paramedics were called to the scene. 

''Paramedics from KZN EMS treated another child from the bus and transported this child to hospital however the details regarding this child's injuries and conditions are not immediately clear at this stage," he was quoted on East Coast Radio.

The police are investigating the incident
