A lion attack resulted in the death of an American woman at the Lion Park in Johannesburg on Monday afternoon.
The woman and a man were driving in a vehicle through the park when they were attacked by a lion through an open window.
Staff at the park responded to the attack and managed to ward off the animal but the woman was subsequently declared dead on the scene.
ER24 emergency personnel confirmed the fatality and said the man who accompanied her was taken to hospital after sustaining injuries to the arm whilst attempting to intervene during the attack.
