Third suspect in Jayde case in court on Tuesday

A third suspect‚ believed to be the gunman‚ in Jayde Panayiotou’s murder is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

News of his arrest in New Brighton on Sunday emerged as Panayiotou’s businessman husband Christopher was remanded in police custody until June 19 after a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Couth on Monday.

A bouncer who worked for one of Christopher’s nightspots‚ Thando Siyoli‚ is said to have turned state witness and has given detectives step-by-step details of a hit on Jayde.

Siyoli‚ who is alleged to have been paid R30000 to find a shooter to kill popular Port Elizabeth teacher Jayde‚ will appear in court again on Thursday.

The money was apparently confiscated by police when they arrested Siyoli at his KwaZakhele home.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Marinda Mills refused to say whether the man arrested in New Brighton was the suspect who had been on the run since Jayde’s murder a fortnight ago.

There is also a possibility of more arrests being made in connection with the killing.
