Traffic deputy chief back in court

Curgenven, who was an administration clerk at the Mbombela local municipality, was found dead in her Land Rover Freelander in July.

An Mpumalanga traffic deputy chief accused of shooting a woman dead is expected back in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

During an appearance in September, Cornelius Heunis, 57, pleaded not guilty to murdering Michelle Curgenven, 36.

Curgenven, who was an administration clerk at the Mbombela local municipality, was found dead in her Land Rover Freelander in July.

Heunis was later arrested at her house. He allegedly threatened to commit suicide when the police arrived.

He is out on bail of R20,000.

The case was postponed after the State asked that the police be given more time to investigate.
