Teens assault fellow pupil, two arrested

The 15-year-old girl was attacked last Thursday morning in front of a classroom and kicked in the face and on her body and hands.

Two teenage girls from Hoërskool Overkruin in Pretoria were arrested and released on a warning after allegedly assaulting another girl at school last week, Beeld reported on Tuesday.

Beeld newspaper published screen grabs of cellphone video footage of the attack.

The argument was apparently related to gossip that one of the girls was pregnant.

The girl was punched until her nose bled, and her eye was swollen shut. Her head was slammed against the window so hard that the glass broke.

Several pupils recorded video footage on their mobile phones, and later posted it on YouTube.

The victim's father lodged a complaint with the police, and the school suspended the girls.

School principal Cobus Nel said he would recommend the permanent expulsion of the perpetrators.
