The man whose body was found in the boot of a car at Montecasino in Johannesburg had lost his wife during the birth of their twins earlier this year, The Star reported on Thursday.

A former stripper, Maruschka Robinson, has appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court in connection with his murder.

Dustan Blom's sister, Julie, told the daily that the 36-year-old married Talita Blom three years ago.

Earlier this year, in March, she gave birth to their twins, Jarred and Megan.

But five hours after giving birth, Talita died of an amniotic embolism which caused her heart and lungs to collapse.

"He was devastated. He was in a world of pain," said Julie.

Dustan Blom's decomposing body was found in the boot of his car parked at Montecasino, north of Johannesburg, at the weekend.

The twins were in the care of Talita's family.
