A four-year-old girl was found hanged in Katlehong, Johannesburg on Monday, police said.
The half-naked body was found by a passer-by hanging on a tree in an open veld, said Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
"Police will determine whether she was raped before being killed," he said.
Dlamini said the girl went missing on Monday afternoon but was not reported missing by her parents.
