DJs on fire, so were the cars - PHOTOS

The most anticipated 12th annual spring event hosted by local music hit-makers DJ Pepsi, Vetkuk vs Mahoota was literally on fire.

The cold Saturday could not keep the multitude of audience from attending the spring explosion that kicked off on Saturday 31 August 2013.

But the perfect all night festival, turned horrific when on early Sunday morning, a conflagration outside the Bundu Inn Resort in Pretoria, left car owners aghast.

Classy cars such as Mercedes AMG, Mini Coopers, Golf5, Golf 6, Quantums, Audis were amongst the many cars that were on flames.

Firefighters struggled to get to the flaming cars on time whilst the helpless crowd watched their precious possessions go down. The streets were congested with cars parked randomly everywhere– parked facing oncoming traffic and off the roads. It was chaos all over the place.

There have been many speculations around how the fire started. Some say the people who attended the event were so cold during the night, they decided to light a fire to keep warm - although the main cause of the incident is still unknown.

Event organizer Zynne Sibika tweeted, apologizing about the fire which led to some of the audience that attended his event, who are now carless.

zynne sibika ‏@djmahoota39m: "We sympathise with the owners of the 8 cars destroyed outside Bundu Inn on Sat. We are assisting SAPS with investigations. More info soon"

We have to point out that the security of the event was so poorly managed, it was difficult to even spot a metro cop or car guard to look after the vehicles at the parking areas outside the venue.

Meanwhile, on stage – the excellent line-up of international, local artists and DJs set the stage on fire, with the jammers dancing till the morning.

Overall, an explosive performance and an epic night for some.

More info to follow regarding confirmed injuries or death.
