The African National Congress on Sunday welcomed the naming of individuals who have been convicted of defrauding departments, institutions and municipalities.
"The naming and shaming of these individuals is further proof of the intolerance of our government on corruption," ANC spokesman Jackson Mthembu said in a statement.
"The decisive action demonstrated by the Anti-Corruption Task Team in exposing and prosecuting individuals involved in activities of corruption, defrauding the state and stealing from funds meant for the development of our country and our people, must be commended."
Earlier on Sunday, Justice Minister Jeff Radebe released the names of 42 convicted fraudsters.
On the list were the names and identity numbers of many government employees and private individuals who defrauded departments, institutions and municipalities. Their sentences were also mentioned.
Mthembu said the organisation was pleased that the task team was transparent with its progress in fighting corruption.
"It is our hope that actions such as these will send an extremely loud message to would-be perpetrators that they will be found out and the law shall deal with them accordingly," he said.
