Man arrested for bribery

A 21-year-old man was arrested in Limpopo for trying to bribe a prosecutor to drop an attempted murder case he is facing, the Hawks said.

"He tried to give the prosecutor R1000 to drop the attempted murder charge against him for which he was arrested in August last year," spokesman Captain Paul Ramaloko said.

Thabo Takalo had been out on bail.

He was arrested for the alleged bribery and appeared in the Thabamoopo Magistrate's Court, Lebowakgomo, about 50km south of Polokwane, on Wednesday.

He would remain in custody and was expected to appear in the same court again next Friday.
