COMEDIAN John Vlismas has bought artist Vusi Beauchamp's painting of slain AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche in which he is depicted with his murderer, Chris Mahlangu, on the right-winger's lap.

In the image, Terre'Blanche and Mahlangu are in a pensive mood. He reads the Bible while Mahlangu nestles against his bosom.

In the murder case Mahlangu revealed, in vain, that ET had sodomised him.

In a way, the portrait seems to suggest a homosexual liaison between the two men, something that was opposed by the court and Terre'Blanche's relatives and friends.

In his typical off-the-top comments, Vlismas said he was "never" a fan of Terre'Blanche, but found the painting "very" appealing in its interpretation. The painting is titled The State of Chakra.

"I think it has humour," Vlismas said, in a matter-of-fact manner.

"The Bible can have a lot of connotations and with both humans engrossed in it, it is funny. It's as if ET is trying to say 'if only he knew better' about black people while Chris seems be to saying he is sorry about what he has done.

"Who knows what happened in the last minutes of his death. Did they kiss, did they look at each other and smile, embrace," asked the funny man.

Vlismas said he has been a fan of Beauchamp's work. Two years ago he bought two of Beauchamp's paintings. One depicted Mickey Mouse surrounded by suicide bombers and the other depicted a man in a tucseedo holding a chicken.

"I like the artist. I am talking about supporting art. Local artists are great artists. They only need the support.

"It's not about the money, but the art that reflects our daily preoccupations," said Vlismas.

About The Spear, Vlismas said he understood why the older folks are offended because the work of Brett Murray seems to interfere with black people's beliefs and culture.

Asked what are his opinions about the leadership style of President Jacob Zuma, he said: "I don't know what to make of him, whether he has his own leadership style or it's that of the leading party. But what has come out very well is his 'sex life'."

Vlismas jokingly added that he is not going to "deface the picture".
