Community attacks man linked to missing boy

Case was withdrawn in court

Eight people were arrested for setting a house and car alight near Tshilwavhusiku, Limpopo police said on Friday.

Johannes Ramaremela’s house and car were set alight at about 10pm on Thursday, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

Ramaremela and a few others were arrested earlier this year in connection with the disappearance of a nine-year-old boy. The case was withdrawn in court last week.

The child, Theophilus Tshivhi, went missing after he accompanied a group to collect herbs and plants for medical use.

Tshivhi has still not been found.

Patrolling police rescued Ramaremela from the burning house.

The eight face charges of arson, public violence and malicious damage to property. They are due to appear in court on March 12.
