Shots fired outside Malema home

Apparently Malema’s security staff fired warning shots into the air, in protecting his home from two groups who had gathered there

Shots were fired outside the home of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema in Seshego, after it was announced he had been expelled from the ANC, said Limpopo police early Thursday morning.

The shooting apparently happened late Wednesday evening after two groups threw stones at each other outside Malema’s home, said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

Apparently Malema’s security staff, in protecting his home, fired warning shots into the air.

There were also allegations that one of the groups had allegedly also fired shots.

“The situation is under control. We have managed to convince both parties, after we explained to them the consequences thereof if they continued, serious action will have to taken by police,” said Mulaudzi.

The groups dispersed and police were patrolling the area.

No one was injured.

Mulaudzi said police were investigating.

Earlier, it was reported Malema was in Seshego, his hometown, when the announcement was made on Wednesday, with about 500 people having gathered outside his home reportedly in support.

It was announced late Wednesday evening that Malema has been expelled from the ANC.
