A man has been jailed for eight years by the Howick Regional Court for raping a five-year-old child, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.
Dumisani Bhengu, 29, was sentenced on Tuesday, Captain Thulani Zwane said.
The child was walking along an open field in Karkloof Ward in Howick when Bhengu accosted her, he said.
“Bhengu forced the child into the forest on February 5. He assaulted and raped her.” He was arrested two days later.
