THE SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is expected to conduct hearings into complaints of hate speech made against ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema, the Afrikanerbond said

Afrikanerbond chief secretary Jan Bosman said in a statement: "It is of extreme importance that the Human Rights Commission make a ruling on hate speech and/or inciting language which poses a particular threat to the constitutional democracy in general and minorities in particular."

The hearings are expected to take place in Johannesburg today and tomorrow.

SAHRC spokesman Vincent Moaga yesterday confirmed that the hearing would be held this week.

The Afrikanerbond said it had lodged three complaints of hate speech against Malema since March 2010.

These complaints were not only about the struggle song Dubula ibhunu (shoot the boer).

"It must be seen against the background of a whole list of public statements and pronouncements directed against whites and minorities by Malema," said Bosman.
