No salary for three months

A TUTOR at the Mpumalanga Nursing College has not received her monthly salary for the past three months.

Evodia Mnisi, who previously worked at Matikwana Hospital in Bushbuckridge, was transferred to the nursing college on June 27 this year and has not been paid since.

Mnisi, who claims to have no other income, said it was a struggle to survive without her salary because she had bills to pay and a daughter to support.

She said she had filed a complaint with the head of Mpumalanga's department of health, JJ Mahlangu, and was told that the matter was still being investigated.

"I cannot wait on the department because my policies are in arrears and my daughter's rent needs to be paid, otherwise she will be evicted from her apartment," Mnisi said.

Mpumalanga department of health spokesman Dumisani Mlangeni said: "The department is looking into the matter."

Mnisi also took the matter to the Department of Labour in Malelane in August. She said she was asked to complete a grievance form "but nothing has been done about this."

An assistant director at the Department of Labour in Malelane said the matter would be referred to the bargaining council for the health sector and Mnisi "would receive assistance soon".
