Housing 'rot' investigated

THE Western Cape department of human settlements is investigating allegations of corruption in the Our Pride Housing Project at Eerste River in Cape Town.

Last month an article in community newspaper Vukani said human settlements MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela was shocked to find people as young as 22 owned houses in the project, which started in 2001, after he had received complaints .

"If there was corruption, then we have to explore what options are available to make sure the right people get the houses," he said yesterday.
