Magaqa gets 'death threats'

THE national general-secretary of the ANC Youth League, Sindiso Magaqa, says he has been receiving death threats since the disbandment of the league's KwaZulu-Natal structure.

Magaqa has linked the threats to the disbandment of the provincial executivecommittee.

"I know who is behind the threats and I refuse to be threatened. There is no place in South Africa that I cannot go to," Magaqa saidyesterday.

He said he had not yet laid a complaint to the police.

Magaqa accused the disbanded committee "of brewing division in the ANC with tribalism".

"Mthandeni Dlungwane, in particular, is behind mobilising for tribalism in the ANC. People like Dlungwane have been rejected by the branches of the ANCYL."

Dlungwane dismissed the accusations linking him with tribalism, saying the ANC defeated tribalism in 1912.

"Magaqa and (Julius) Malema are now bringing up tribalism because they have no grounds on why they disbanded the committee," Dlungwane said, adding that appointing Magaqa to the top ANCYL position was"political suicide".
