Busi left 9 suicide letters for family

THE 18-year-old girl who committed suicide in front of her twin by jumping in front of a moving train wrote nine suicide letters to her family members

Busi Ramaleba addressed the letters to her mother, father, sister, cousins and friends.

She failed her Grade 10 with her twin sister and decided to keep mum about it until their mother found out this week.

Busi's elder sister Tsholofelo said the letters had the same message.

In the letters Busi claimed she was not coping and it would be better if she killed herself.

She also wrote an SMS to her twin sister Buyiswa saying she was going to kill herself.

The SMS said: "I am sorry for what I am going to do, I feel I have to end my life". Buyiswa only saw the SMS later in the day after the suicide.

In the same SMS Busi wrote that she did not see herself going back to school.

Tsholofelo said they found the letters in a drawer in her bedroom.

When Sowetan arrived at the house Buyiswa had been to a doctor for observation because she was traumatised by the incident.

Tsholofelo said: "We are worried about what is going through her mind because she does not speak to anyone. She has been sitting in a corner rocking herself the whole day and she did not eat anything. She only got up when she went to bed at night."

Tsholofelo said Busi dreamt of being a beautician. "She was a very neat person who loved beautiful clothes and she looked after herself. She loved making other people feel beautiful by helping them to dress up and fixing their hair. Busi was a loner and she did not share her thoughts with anyone, not even her twin."

Tsholofelo said their task would be to make sure Buyiswa attended school. "We will make sure that she continues going to school but it will be a different school and she will not travel by train."

Busi Ramaleba was a pupil at Spartan High School in Kempton Park. She jumped in front of a moving train at Limindlela station in Tembisa on Wednesday morning.
