Juju, Fikile steal Chomee's thunder

IN HIS typically unapologetic and unplugged manner, Julius Malema stole Chomee's thunder on her 24th birthday party on Wednesday night.

The birthday bash for the sexy pop star was thrown at the Blues Room in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Malema was minding his business in the VIP room with his friend Deputy Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula, when a representative of the provincial education department pledged R5000 for Chomee's education trust fund.

Chomee has pledged to give five students R10000 each towards their tertiary education.

Not to be outdone, Malema and Mbalula went on stage and both pledged R20000 each.

As the pleasantly surprised audience oooohed and aaahed over this generous gesture, a serious Mbalula said the R20000 was "nothing but small change".

You should have heard the whistles! Suddenly everyone wanted to pose with the country's most outspoken youth leader.

The newly launched Divatainment managed to raise R45000 for its bursary fund. A student from Limpopo became the instant beneficiary.

Looking fantastic in her chic chequered red skirt, a huge black figure belt and a white shirt, Chomee looked every bit the student.

Her mento, Arthur Mafokate, was not shabby either in his elegant black-and-white suit. Interestingly most guests had come in their school uniforms.

Siphokazi, Winnie Khumalo and Somizi Mhlongo, sang their hearts out for the birthday girl. Dineo Ranaka proved to be a great MC, while Nambitha Mpumlwana offered words of encouragement.
