Dozens injured in road crashes

PARAMEDICS had their hands full dealing with various road accidents in KwaZulu-Natal yesterday.

More than 66 people cheated death in separate accidents.

In all 47 bus passengers were injured when a bus they were travelling in collided with a car on the M19 near the Otto Volek Road junction yesterday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said the cause of the collision was unknown.

"It is thought that both vehicles had been heading towards Pinetown when the bus slammed into the car," Wicks said.

He said the injured were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to nearby hospitals .

Meanwhile, 15 passengers were injured when a minibus taxi overturned on the M25 near KwaMashu, north of Durban, during peak hour.

Circumstances surrounding the accident are not clear.

In a separate accident six people were injured when a minibus taxi collided with a stationary car on Durban's North Coast Road near the Blackburn Road junction.
