Strangled in her luxury flat

DURBAN police found 35-year-old clothing company administrator Vinoda Naidoo dead in the lounge of her upmarket Glenwood home on Sunday night.

Though details of her death are still sketchy, police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said they suspected that the woman had been strangled by her partner.

Zwane said the partner, who cannot be named as investigations are still continuing, had admitted that he was responsible for Naidoo's death.

Zwane said the police were alerted to the murder by an anonymous caller.

He said when the police arrived at the house they found Naidoo on the floor of her flat with no visible injuries besides bruises to her neck.

Netcare's 911 Jeff Wicks said: "Netcare paramedics said the woman was already dead when they arrived at the scene.

"She had bruises to her neck."

Naidoo's brother-in-law, Nilesh Patel, said the deceased had recently split with her long-time partner.

"The family is devastated. My sister-in-law was in the process of selling the flat she and her boyfriend had bought together.

"My sister-in-law and her boyfriend met the estate agent at the flat to finalise the sale. It was after the estate agent had left the flat that a bitter argument broke out between the two," he said.

Patel said Naidoo had been living with him and his wife after splitting with the boyfriend.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Durban magistrate's court this morning.
