Doctors at the Main General Hospital in Maputo, Mozambique, are not sure whether they can operate on a baby born with two heads.
The baby was born on Sunday. One head is situated at the correct position and the other is around the abdomen area, making it critical to remove.
Hospital spokesman Dr Linah Kilimo confirmed yesterday that the baby was born with two heads and doctors were deciding if they would operate. She declined to give more details about the little boy's condition.
Kilimo said: "I cannot give you details about the baby and the mother over the phone."
This is the second time in the history of Mozambique that this rare form of conjoined twins, called a dicephalus twin, has occurred. The first was in the 1980's.
Last year in Indonesia another dicephalus twin was born at Jakarta's Pelni Petamburan Hospital.
