Azealia Banks offered plea deal in assault case

Azealia Banks has been given the opportunity to avoid jail by taking a plea deal after she bit a security guard's breast in December.

The 24-year-old rapper appeared in court on Monday (01.02.16) and was given the opportunity to dodge prison time, providing she accepts a charge of misdemeanor assault and completes an anger management programme.

Despite the seriousness of the case, the brunette diva didn't seem bothered and appeared to be more interested in her phone as she took photographs of the courtroom, according to the New York Post's Page Six column.

As she left the courtroom, Azealia - who didn't immediately take the deal - pulled out her mobile phone again and began taking pictures of waiting photographers. She yelled: ''Just trying to get my exclusive,'' before one of her pals, who was acting as her security guard, allegedly shoved a paparazzo and ushered the rapper into the car.

Azealia was arrested seven weeks ago when she locked horns with a security guard at the nightclub Up&Down in New York after she tried to enter a party without a hand stamp. The hot-headed star allegedly began ''screaming at the top of her lungs,'' using foul-mouthed language and racial slurs.

She then allegedly proceeded to spit in the face of a female bouncer and took a chunk out of her boob with her teeth. Azealia returned a few minutes later with police and reportedly punched the bouncer in the face before she was arrested for assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

It was recently revealed the '212' star won't face charges over another scuffle with a nightclub security guard, which took place in Los Angeles in October.
