Singer denies he is broke

GOSPEL star Keke Phoofolo says he paid his lobolo in dollars in preparation for his wedding to his fiancé Paulina Radebe later this year.

He says he has reached a settlement with his ex-wife Mpho Phoofolo.

"I paid lobolo in dollars, so where do the new stories that I am broke come from? I worked outside the country and they paid me in dollars.

"I paid almost R100000 for my children's education last year. I am not broke and if that is what they say, when was I ever rich?"

He added: "Last year my church members gave me a C Class Mercedes Benz car and I bought myself an S Class. Me and Mpho have come to a settlement. She will take my Audi A6 and the blue Volkswagen Beetle I bought her. I have custody of both my kids."

About his matrimonial plans, Phoofolo said: "We are going to get married in Joburg later this year. This is the last time I get married. Divorce is a painful thing.

"I have reasons for my failed relationships. I cannot stop loving because I failed before. I'm preaching the gospel.

"The Bible is about family. I cannot go around preaching about these things and I do not have a family.

"This is why I am getting married again, and I love Paulina."

Radebe said they were engaged at the Abba Bible Church of All Nations in Kroonstad, Free State. She is a senior manager at a Free State municipality. Radebe has a child with top-ranking legal eagle and philanthropist Zola Majavu. They are both from Kroonstad.

Majavu confirmed: "We had a relationship that ended three years ago. We have a son and I take full responsibility for him. I do not want to get involved in this thing [her engagement to Phoofolo]."

He also confirmed that he was notified of Radebe's engagement beforehand.

Phoofolo said he separated from Mpho amicably although her family was disapproving. He said their marriage had separated him from his family.

"I decided that I'd rather be at peace with my family rather than be happy and lose my mother and brothers. So I moved on. We both agreed to move on."
