Donald hits the right notes and goes gold

FRESH from winning two awards at the 12th Metro FM Awards, singer Donald Moatshe's second album, Train of Love, has gone gold.

Presented with the gold disc by Universal Music's Thabiso Mogwatlhe during Metro FM's lunchtime show The Secret Ingredient, Moatshe was left dumbstruck.

"I don't know what to say," he said.

Moatshe was invited for an interview on the show and had no idea he would be presented with the gold disc by his record company.

A gold disc is achieved when 20000 CDs have been sold.

"I started singing way back under the guidance of Selaelo Selota and I'm glad to have come this far," he said during the interview.

He went on to explain that he left his former record label, Will of Steel run by Cleopas "DJ Cleo" Monyepao, on good terms, despite allegations that they parted on a sour note.

When prompted by Sowetan about his feelings upon being presented with the gold disc, he could only utter "thank you and wow".

The stylish and sexy musician, best known for his song I Deserve off his second album, promised his female fans a surprise performance at the 19th South African Music Awards next month. - motaud@sowetan.co.za
