A challenging film role for Jordan

MUSIC composer and radio presenter Ed Jordan has just landed a big role in an upcoming Leon Schuster film.

.Jordan has been roped in to work with the country's most commercially successful filmmaker Schuster.

And now the South African Music Award winner, platinum selling musician and TV presenter Jordan, will be at the helm of the music and score of the hotly anticipated Schuster film Mad Buddies, set for release on June 22 in cinemas across South Africa.

Jordan is renowned for many hit singles and albums.

He has also hosted many successful shows like Deal Or No Deal, Popstars and I Wanna Be.

Jordan's score compositions and song writing skills are captured in numerous local and international commercials as well as the 2010 hit film Spud.

Schuster's humorous movies have left many in stitches just as they have left others fuming, claiming that they are not sensitive to racial sensibilities.

The movies have also received flak from some quarters for racial stereotyping, notably from young Wits lecturer Tsepo wa-Mamatu who has written a master's thesis claiming that they represent black people in a bad light.

Having just released his first greatest hits compilation The Best of Ed Jordan, the muso sees the Schuster project as the next step in his creative evolution.

"I am looking forward to working with Leon and Gray (Hofmeyr) in what can only be described as an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"From what I have already seen, audiences are going to be aching with laughter from the very first scene," he said.

On Jordan's role as the score composer in Mad Buddies, Schuster had this to say: "It's a real pleasure to have Ed on board. The collaborative nature of this film on all levels has me really excited.

We promise to deliver a truly memorable experience to cinema-goers."

Mad Buddies, is the latest comedy from the popular filmmaker Schuster.

The movie kicks off with sworn enemies Boetie (Schuster) and Beast (Kenneth Nkosi) forced to embark on a road trip as unwitting subjects of a new TV reality show devised by a gorgeous TV producer, Kelsey (Tanit Phoenix).

Also starring in Mad Buddies will be long-time Schuster collaborator Alfred Ntombela.

Mad Buddies is directed by Hofmeyr and produced by Helena Spring.
