MAKHOSAZANA 'Khosi' Zwane-Siguqa, who appears in two episodes of M-Net's new soapie The Wild this week, says she has no plans to dedicate her life to acting.

Khosi, who is editor of Drum magazine, told Sowetan that the experience of shooting the two episodes of a wedding had been exciting and an eye-opener. The experience had given her another perspective on the creative arts.

In the two episodes, to be screened tonight and tomorrow, Khosi's character as Drum editor has been written into the soapie.

"I would never consider acting because I am a bad pretender," Khosi confessed.

"If, for example, I had a bad day, I would not be able to get into character and pretend to be feeling anything else besides what I would be feeling at that particular time.

"But actors are able to get into character and become someone else. It takes a special person to be an actor. I am not that person."

Khosi admitted being part of a big cast that included herself as a journalist, Metro FM's Unathi Msengana and businesswoman Michelle Mclean, gave her an insight into what goes into creating an episode and the challenges that actors face.

"It certainly gave me an idea of the challenges soapie actors have to face in their daily working lives," Khosi said.

"I now look at soapies differently. I have come to respect actors and their craft. Though I will remain objective when writing about soapies, I will now be able to comment and judge from a more informed position."

Her fellow actors in the soapie were very impressed with her acting and general conduct on the set.

"I think Khosi was superb. She was professional, listened to the director and assistant director's instructions.

"Even her make-up was flawless. I had a great time shooting scenes with her," said Gail Nkoane (Lelo in the soapie).

Putla Sehlapelo (Tiro) agreed. He said he had especially enjoyed sharing acting tips with her.

"I had an awesome time with Khosi on the set," Putla said.

"She was sweet, a real darling. What touched me was when she came to me for advice about acting.

"At first I did not even know that she was the editor of Drum magazine. Such was her humility.

"Though I respect her decision not to pursue acting, I still think she is a natural for the cameras."
