Jazz gig to wow fans

THIS year's annual Ugu Jazz Festival in Port Shepstone promises to be one of the best as thousands of music lovers are expected to throng the the event tomorrow.

The festival continues to grow every year, and musicians lined up for this year include Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbulu, Ringo Madlingozi, jazz maestros Jonas Gwangwa, Selaelo Selota, Siphokazi, Zama Jobe, Nkule Dube and Tender Mavundla.

DJs Muntu, who is known for playing sounds from the old school, and Msheddys have also been added to the mix to ensure people dance the whole night.

This festival will be characterised by a number of pre-parties. The Ugu Jazz Festival comedy will be followed by a big pre- party that will be hosted by DJs Rocco and Bongs at Marburg Sports Grounds.

Organiser Siyabonga Msomi said: "I believe that we are ready for the event. We havemade sure that everything is running smoothly and I can assure the nation that people who will be coming will be safe.

"We will also do our best to entertain them."

The event promises to boost the Ugu district municipality economically. Tickets cost R190 at the gate and R240 at Computicket.
