Lira at Italian movie premiere ahead of European tour with Hugh Masekela

Lira spent last weekend in Sicily attending the Taormina Film Festival, where her debut appearance in a full feature has been selected.

The film is called The Italian Consul and stars Italian actress Giuliana De Sio and Lira as the co-lead.

The film was short-listed as the only Italian/South African co-production film represented in the Mediterranean section of the festival.

The film was shot in Cape Town.

A highlight last weekend was when Lira was invited to sit at the same dinner table as Oliver Stone in honour of his achievements hosted post viewing his second re-cut of Alexander, her publicist said.

"Lira dazzled the audience and ended up being requested by Oliver Stone to sing a song which blew everyone away, resulting in a lot of attention around Lira both at the venue and later across various Italian television and print media opportunities."
