Stonehenge a megalith

MORE than 5000 years ago the Europeans built stone monuments, many of which are still standing today.

These huge stones were called megaliths. Some stones were placed on their own and others were set in circles or groups.

Some of these megaliths were used to mark a burial place of an important ruler and others fulfilled a religious function.
