Driven to profit others

Edwin Goodgall is one of the few businessmen who have not forgotten where they come from.

Although his business is not a mega one, he donates money to help school children.

In 2007, the 46-year-old saw his childhood dream of having his own business come true.

He started a branding company called BrandAce that specialises in graphic design, promotional items, corporate gifts, outdoor branding and printing, among other things.

However, what is important to him is how he can help those people who do not have the means to help themselves.

"If you want to succeed in life you must follow your heart. Many people want [a] business because of money and end up failing," Goodgall said.

"I had always been passionate about branding and communication, so starting my business was a realisation of that childhood dream."

The Johannesburg entrepreneur plays a big role in helping children from the high school he attended.

"I matriculated from Westbury Senior Secondary School, and they are my preferred social responsibility partner.

"I make cash donations to the school from time to time when they have the need and I am financially able to," said Goodgall.

"I want to remind people that it is everyone's responsibility to help the community."

His deeds include accommodating soccer players from Cape Town at his home when they move to Gauteng clubs.
