Sunday World apology to Tshepo Motsepe

On 11 November 2012 Sunday World published an article under the headline: “Ramaphosa’s wife accused of pulling fast one to get house” (the first article).

The first article was also published on 12 November 2012 on the Sunday World website.

On the following Sunday, 18 November 2012, Sunday World  published a second article under the headline: “ Motsepe House Saga: NPA to decide”. The second article was also published on 19 November 2012 on the Sunday World website.

Dr. Tshepo Motsepe sued Sunday World on the basis that the first article portrayed her as a kingpin in the alleged ousting of her elderly aunt who is a cancer patient from a four roomed house situated in Soweto.

She said the articles further portrayed her as a fraudster, thief and corrupt person.

She further sued on the basis that the second article portrayed her as a thief who is wanted by the Police, as being a dishonest, cruel and heartless person who has a case of fraud opened against her.

The Sunday World did not have evidence to support the allegations made in the first and second articles against Dr. Tshepo Motsepe.

Sunday World hereby unreservedly apologises and retracts the allegations made against Dr. Tshepo Motsepe for any harm caused by the publication of the first and second articles.
