Asylum seekers win case against home affairs

A lawyer of 22 Afghan nationals seeking asylum in SA says the group wanted to bring their medical skills to the Cape Flats where crime is rampant.

Maurice Crespi, the attorney representing the group, told Sowetan on Wednesday following a court victory against the department of home affairs, that they also preferred SA because of historic importance of asylum and that “there would be higher degree of sympathy towards Afghans”. ..
