Two bust for drugs found in dog kennel and car boot

Two suspects‚ one of them a woman‚ have been arrested in the Western Cape after policed seized a stash of mandrax tablets worth about R900‚000 which were discovered in a dog kennel and the boot of a car.

“Following an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity at a residence in Mandalay‚ a search warrant was obtained which was executed by the Gugulethu Stabilisation Unit last night at 20:20.

 “The members entered the premises in Wessel Street and noticed a male throwing a bag into a dog kennel. After removing the bag the members found plastic bags containing Mandrax tablets therein‚” said police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.

“Upon searching the entire premises the members recovered numerous bags containing thousands of Mandrax tablets in the boot of a BMW that was parked in the garage. The Mandrax tablets are estimated at R900 000 street value‚” Rwexana said.

Two suspects‚ both aged 21‚ were arrested and will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs‚ Rwexana added.
