Economic Freedom Fighters national chairperson Dali Mpofu was at the Johannesburg Magistrates Court ahead of Fees Must Fall leader Mcebo Dlamini’s bail hearing on Wednesday morning.
The former Wits SRC president has been spent three nights in the Cleveland police holding cells following his arrest on Sunday.
He is charged with assaulting a police officer‚ theft‚ being in possession of dangerous weapons‚ damage to property and public violence.

It is not yet clear if Mpofu will take over from Dlamini’s current lawyer‚ Mongezi Ntanga.
All eyes will be on magistrate Albertis Roux as he delivers his much-anticipated bail ruling following two days of affidavits from the state and the defence.
The heavily guarded courtroom 15 was filled to capacity‚ with students occupying most of the benches inside while others stood in the passage outside. A large media contingent was also present.
Police Nyalas and a number of police vans were stationed outside court as police officers walked up and down Ntemi Piliso Street where the situation was calm.
