Mashatile says ANC will fill FNB Stadium

The chairperson of the (African National Congress) ANC in Gauteng‚ Paul Mashatile‚ is convinced his party will fill the FNB Stadium to the rafters come Saturday.

Speaking during a door-to-door campaign in Tembisa‚ Mashatile said everything was on course to fill the 94 000-seater during the party’s provincial local government manifesto launch.

“Posters are there. It is just that Gauteng is so big we can’t cover every corner of the province‚” Mashatile said.

“We are very confident that we will fill the stadium. Remember the way we fill stadiums is not so much about marketing‚ we use branch structures. Branches go on the ground and they mobilise. This is part of the work we are doing today.”

Insiders in the ANC have been concerned that the venue was too big to fill in a short space of time.

President Jacob Zuma is expected to speak at the launch along with other members of the ANC’s national leadership.
