Farters to compete in Mamelodi contest

The hunt for the loudest and foulest farters is on.

The air in Mamelodi will be thick with anticipation on May 7 when DJ and kwaito singer Thabo Mahlare hosts the inaugural Fart Competition.

Mahlare, 37, said since he announced the contest on social media he has received a big demand from the public. The plan is to launch with 11 contestants. Due to the nature of the competition it will be staged in an open space just next to Mahobe Mall.

Mahlare said people were gifted in different ways, but the problem was that they did not realise that.

"Farting is a talent on its own like someone who can sing or draw. With this competition I want them to just have fun and earn some cash while doing what they do best."

The winner will be a contestant who makes the biggest noise and will walk away with a R500 cash prize.

Mahlare said competitors will be given boiled eggs, milk, castor oil and Stameta to enable them to do the job.

"I will also provide them with [adult nappies] just in case an accident happens."

He said there will be a "farting technician" who will be judging the sound.

Mahlare's music career began professionally in 2012 and he is no stranger to crazy ideas. After Kenny Kunene's antics of eating sushi off naked women, Mahlare ate cabbage, spinach and potatoes on top of a naked woman.
