It was common knowledge the Gupta family were "messing up things in this country", United Democratic Movement leader Bantu Holomisa, said on Thursday.
"The moral compass of South Africa is looking upside down under the leadership of the ANC," he said.
Holomisa said he was "not surprised" by reports that the Guptas had offered Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas the minister of finance post in 2015.
"The evidence is in abundance on how the Gupta family has been messing up things in this country. We also know the proximity of the Gupta family to the president," Holomisa said.
He said Jonas had confirmed what was already been known.
Holomisa said President Jacob Zuma made it a point that 70% of the ANC's national executive committee (NEC) was drawn from his "homeboys" and "homegirls". Brought SA into disrepute
"This is not a NEC that can take decisive decisions on serious matters in this country," he said, adding that Zuma was not a fool and that he should start considering certain options.
"I don’t think he wants to go down in this country as the person who causes havoc in economy, uncertainty and creating anxiety in the process," he said.
"Who knows, maybe he wanted to quit for a long time? But maybe people around him encouraged him to stay. Yet they are the culprits that are messing up the country," Holomisa said.
He said the link between Guptas and Zuma had compromised the president.
"Zuma is a compromised person; his children and his latest wife once worked for the Guptas. He is the last person to say he does not know the Guptas," Holomisa said.
He said Zuma should start packing his bags, because he had brought South Africa into disrepute.
