Two dead‚ several injured in multiple Cape Town collisions

Two people have been killed and several others injured in numerous road accidents in the Cape Town area overnight‚ paramedics reported on Sunday.

In one incident‚ at 7.30pm on Saturday evening‚ a vehicle careered off a bridge and down an embankment on Main Road in Constantia.

 “The car went about 25 metres down the embankment and caught alight. A tree had also fallen on the car. Paramedics went down the embankment and extricated the woman from the vehicle‚” ER24 emergency medical service said.

“The woman‚ believed to be in her 50s‚ was assessed and found to have sustained critical injuries. Paramedics began treatment‚ however the woman’s condition deteriorated.

‘Despite all efforts to save her‚ she sadly died due to the severity of her injuries. The fire was extinguished by the tree that fell on the car‚” ER24 said.

 In another accident at about 3am on Sunday‚ a man was killed when a vehicle went down an embankment on Jakes Gerwel Drive in the Phillipi area and landed on Old Landsdown road. The vehicle landed on its roof and burst into flames.

Three other men were injured in the crash‚ two of them critically. They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

Fire and rescue services extinguished the fire.
