Second arrest in suspected gang-related shooting case

A multi-disciplinary task team led by the Hawks has arrested a second suspect in connection with a random shooting in Port Elizabeth last Sunday evening in which four people were killed and one person seriously wounded.

The attack‚ which occurred in the city’s northern areas‚ is believed to be gang-related.

Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said a 26-year-old suspect was arrested at his home in Helevale on Thursday morning. He will appear in the Gelvandale Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Meanwhile‚ the other suspect in custody‚ Randell Claviet (27) was remanded in custody when he appeared in the same court on Thursday.

 “His case was postponed to 8 February 2016 to allow for his accomplice to appear before court‚” Brig Mulaudzi said.
