Teacher arrested for abusing schoolboy (9)

A child attending a school in the North West had to be admitted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries in class‚ allegedly at the hands of his teacher‚ provincial police say.

The 55-year-old teacher appeared in the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court this week‚ for allegedly punishing a 9-year-old boy by squeezing ball points between his fingers.

“The appearance of the accused spiralled from an incident that took place on Thursday‚ 28 January 2016‚ at a Primary School in Moruleng village in Rustenburg‚” Major Pelonomi Makau said in a statement.

“The child was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.”

The teacher is out on bail pending further investigation and a return court date.
