ANC wins two of three by-elections

The African National Congress won two wards and the Democratic Alliance one in three by-elections contested in two provinces on Wednesday‚ the Electoral Commission announced.

Both parties retained the wards they already held.

The ANC retained Ward 10 the Vulamehlo [Dududu] Municipality in Kwazulu-Natal and Ward 101 in the City of Cape Town Municipality in the Western Cape‚ while the DA won Ward 13 in the Oudtshoorn Municipality‚ also in the Western Cape.

Voter turnout varied in the by-elections between 25.32% and 45.74% with an average of 31.07%‚ the Electoral Commission said.
