A high speed collision left one person dead and two other people in a critical condition after a car and a taxi collided head-on on Hendrik Potgieter Road in Ruimsig west of Johannesburg.
Emergency services arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying partially on the roof of the car‚ ER24 reported.
The driver of the taxi was killed in the accident while one of the passengers in the taxi and the driver of the car who both had to be extricated through the use of rescue tools‚ were seriously injured.
Both of the injured are in a critical condition in local hospitals.
An eyewitness told paramedics that a passenger in the car had fled the scene of the accident.
Hendrik Potgieter road was closed for several hours as a result of the accident.
